It’s been one year since the launch of Weekend Warrior Mama. Who launches a travel blog in the middle of a pandemic? Apparently I do.
It’s been one hell of a trip! Reliving some of my favorite memories of the past while staying safe. And taking a few day trips/weekend trips while staying close to home.
Tomorrow I leave for a trip with the kiddo while a 4th (or is it 5th I’ve lost count) surge begins.
We have enough vaccines here in the US for everyone over the age of 12 but people aren’t getting them for various reasons. I am vaccinated and have health issues. My son is not old enough and if I get a breakthrough I can pass to my son. And the delta is highly contagious. I Wipe things down like crazy, we sanitize like our life depends on it (it just might) and we haven’t stopped wearing our masks.
Everyone has there reasons for doing what they do, but this is bigger than ourselves, this affects small children who just aren’t old enough at this point to be vaccinated. This affects immune compromised people as well. Can we all pause a moment and think about them?
Okay, moving on… we’re off to the hotel tomorrow where I will wipe down everything. Then onto Sesame Place onto Tuesday where we will not do the dine with me as I do not do indoor dining, where we will go back and eat in the car, where masks will come down to our chin for sips of water, and where we will skip the water park as masks don’t work when wet. But where we will go and I will wipe down the seat a d bars before we get on and sanitize after we get off so we can try to have some semblance of normalcy in his childhood. Because childhood only lasts so long, but is it worth risking his life for? It’s a delicate and dangerous tango that a parent must dance right now.
We’ll catch you all the Wednesday after Labor Day.
